Netflix vs David Fincher vs Tim Miller - an 18-part series spans sci-fi, fantasy, horror and dark comedy, with episodes between 5-15 minutes long each created by different animation teams from around the world. Each will feature a unique style, from 2D to photo-real 3D CGI.

We worked in the Foley dept. on two of these shorts, the first being the opening story about massive gladiatorial beasts in “Sonnie’s edge”. the second “Shapeshifters” featuring werewolf soldiers in the fight for (eating) the hearts and minds.

If you listen carefully, you may even hear our Foley artist Jonathan Bruce, and vocal collaborator Drew Lyon, putting on their finest accents to supply additional Loop for a couple of scenes.

'ALIEN' 40th ANNIVERSARY SHORT FILMS

MARCH 2019

As the Alien franchise approaches its 40th anniversary, the legacy of Ellen Ripley continues to evolve and expand, with 20th Century Fox inviting a new generation of filmmakers to play with xenomorphs and other Weyland-Yutani Corporation intellectual property for a series of six online short films.

To celebrate the 40th anniversary of Ridley Scott’s groundbreaking sci-fi horror film Alien (1979), six visionary filmmakers were selected to bring their Alien-inspired stories to life. From terrifying escapes, to Facehuggers and Xenomorphs, these captivating shorts brings forth an exciting new narrative for fans while paying homage to the original film.

Alien: Alone — Hope, an abandoned crewmember aboard the derelict chemical hauler Otranto, has spent a year trying to keep her ship and herself alive as both slowly fall apart. After discovering hidden cargo, she risks it all to power up the broken ship in search of human life. Written and directed by Noah Miller.

Alien: Containment — Four survivors find themselves stranded aboard a small escape pod in deep space. Trying to piece together the details around the outbreak that led to their ship’s destruction, they find themselves unsure to trust whether or not one of them might be infected. Written and directed by Chris Reading.

Alien: Harvest — The surviving crew of a damaged deep-space harvester have minutes to reach the emergency evacuation shuttle. A motion sensor is their only navigation tool leading them to safety while a creature in the shadows terrorizes the crew. However, the greatest threat might have been hiding in plain sight all along. Directed by Benjamin Howdeshell.

Alien: Night Shift — When a missing space trucker is discovered hungover and disoriented, his co-worker suggests a nightcap as a remedy. Near closing time, they are reluctantly allowed inside the colony supply depot where the trucker’s condition worsens, leaving a young supply worker alone to take matters into her own hands. Written and directed by Aidan Breznick.

Alien: Ore — As a hard-working miner of a planet mining colony, Lorraine longs to make a better life for her daughter and grandchildren. When her shift uncovers the death of a fellow miner under mysterious circumstances, Lorraine is forced to choose between escape or defying management orders and facing her fears to fight for the safety of her family. Written and directed by the Spear Sisters.

Alien: Specimen — It’s the night shift in a colony greenhouse, and Julie, a botanist, does her best to contain suspicious soil samples that have triggered her sensitive lab dog. Despite her best efforts, the lab unexpectedly goes into full shutdown and she is trapped inside. Little does she know, an Alien specimen has escaped the mysterious cargo, and a game of cat and mouse ensues as the creature searches for a host. Written and directed by Kelsey Taylor.

“Mosley” follows the eponymous hero and his family of four-legged “Thoriphants,” intelligent creatures with the ability to speak like humans but that have been cursed to live a life of servitude. In an attempt to free his family, Mosley embarks on a perilous journey to find the mythical land of Kinesareth.

The feature’s voice cast includes Rhys Darby (“Trolls”), John Rhys Davies (“Lord of the Rings”), Temuera Morrison (“Aquaman”) and Lucy Lawless (“Xena: Warrior Princess”).

“It’s a visually stunning movie, and I’ve been in awe of the collaborative work of artists in New Zealand and China,” producer Daniel Story said. “The film has scope and power and can easily stand alongside any big studio project. I think we’re about to break the rules for what an animated feature film can do in the independent space.”

Love in an elevator
Livin' it up when I'm goin' down
Love in an elevator
Lovin' it up 'til I hit the ground

”Down” is the latest installment if the Into the Dark series (episode 105).
Did writer Ken Kubena take cues from the prophets Aerosmith in this claustrophobic Valentines day special? or perhaps as the sagely Tina Turner rhetorically asks in the 1984 hit
“…What’s love got to do with it? Who needs a heart when a heart can be broken?”.
And like a heart can break, so too an elevator can be broken.
Deep.

Natalie Martinez and Matt Lauria’s performances both make this feature-length episode a delicious assortment of romantic horror - an emotional firecracker.

I can also say there are some specific sound cues that can only be fully appreciated upon a second watch.
Get on Hulu and give it hoon.

“Every morning in the writers’ room, we’d cringe at headlines about the current administration’s waning support of NATO alongside massive Russian military exercises around the Baltics,” he states. “What seemed like a cautionary tale when we began in February seems more and more plausible as we approach our airdate.”
